Day 01. Arrival and Orientation.

Participants arrive in Kathmandu today. Please plan your arrival before 4pm. We will meet at the hotel around 5pm for an orientation session and discussion on our plans for the tour. We will also troubleshoot all questions–related to photography as well as Nepal–which you may have in this evening session.

A lot of evenings through the tour will be spent discussing photography or on image critique sessions.

Day 02. Kathmandu

Dawn at Swayambhunath – the monkey temple, a fascinating chaotic mix of Hindu and Buddhist culture. While we are here we photograph the pilgrims from all walks of life praying, meditating or watching the sunrise, shops and tea sellers–lot of colour and atmospheric images.

We return to the hotel for breakfast around 9 am once the light starts to get harsh. Later, after lunch, we head out to Bodhnath, which hosts the largest Buddhist stupa in all of Asia. We stay on until sunset here to photograph the life around stupa. Tibetan monks walk around streets draped with prayer flags, butter lamps are lit at small temples around the stupas and we photograph some of the artisans such as tangkha painters and metal workers around the square.

Day 03. Bhakatpur

We leave after an early breakfast and drive for an hour to the medieval town of Bhatkapur. Here, we photograph in one of the most historic sites of Nepal with brilliant temples and palaces. We stay the night at Bhaktapur so that we can do some photography during dusk and the next day at dawn as well.

Day 04. Drive to Pokhara.

We leave after breakfast for Pokhara by road. We follow Trisuli River valley and will have plenty of time to stop along the way for photo-opportunities. Rest of the day is free in Pokhara to settle in.

Day 05. Pokhara and Naudanda.

We leave at dawn to visit Peace Pagoda, where we can photograph the splendid views of the Pokhara valley, Phewa Lake and the mountains all in one frame! Later, after breakfast, we can wander around Phewa Lake with our cameras and also go on a boat trip.

After lunch, we leave for Naudanda, which is about 90 minutes drive from Pokhara. Naudanda has great views of the peaks, Pokhara lake and town below – there are good opportunities for night or dusk photography here as well.

Day 06. Naudanda and around the village.

We start the day photographing the sunrise over the Himalayan Peaks from Naudanda. Post breakfast, we leave for a walk around the surrounding villages. Photography opportunities are plenty, of the high mountains as well as the village life.

Day 07. Naudanda to Pokhara.

We drive down from Naudanda to Pokhara in the morning. Photographing on the way and reach Pokhara in time for lunch. We have an evening in Pokhara, and if time permits, we will make a visit to the unspoilt Begnas Tal, rarely visited by tourists.

Day 08. Pokhara to Kathmandu by flight.

We fly back to Kathmandu this morning. You will have a leisurely day and some free time in the second half to wander around and explore the town.

Day 08. Departure.

Check out after breakfast.
